Friends of Haiti:

beabruns schoolMonthly medical update: July wasn’t a great month for Terry. Because her immune system hasn’t fully recovered yet, she had a throat infection…and three days after finishing the medicine for that, she developed a respiratory infection. Although her blood counts are in a normal range, some are still at the low end of normal and her platelet volume is not where it should be yet. So to say the least, she still needs prayers.

beaubruns school water pumpI did make a trip to Haiti right before she got sick the first time and it was very good to get back even if for a short visit (or short for me). Everything is just as I knew it would be, running without a problem. After almost two decades of working with most of the people who work with us now, we knew it would be.

I have included a better picture of Beaubrun’s new school building. Yes, it is made of tin and, yes, it is hot. But we don’t have to worry about things happening to it the way we would have to with wood. There is also a better shot of the water pump in use in front of the school. Carrying water is one of the kids “chores” in Haiti, and as you can see they aren’t small buckets. For those who have been there, this is right before we would turn left to go down the small road to the other building. Its just a much better spot for everything and all the kids.

If everything goes as planned (and they haven’t for at least a year), we’ll be seeing some of you this month, others in September. Then I hope to be able to make an extended trip to Haiti in October.

Thank you again for all the prayers and cards for Terry and thank you for being a blessing to so many in Haiti.

Steve and Terry
