Friends of Haiti:

Terry’s update: We are waiting for the results on her six-month tests. Its been that long since her transplant, so they check for about everything, including cancer cells. We were told not to be disappointed if there are some; but, like the last, we are praying that this time again there will be none. When they did the stem cell harvest they took enough in the event she may need them again but no one wants to go through that again. From a husband’s view, I never want to see her that sick again.

september 2015-2By the time you get this, school will be back in session in Haiti, as it is here. They don’t get as long a summer break there as they do here, though. In July, the teachers were grading the final tests and handing out report cards. We have included some pictures of the teachers at Beaubrun’s school in that process. Knowing there are some teachers here who  receive this or see it online — does this look like how you do it?

september 2015His school will start the year with 200 kids this year, so we have had to build extra benches for them and hire at least one more teacher. It goes without saying that we couldn’t do this without those of you who give for a child or to a school there.

Fortunately, Hurricane Danny fell a part before it got close to Haiti. Although Ericka was “only” a tropical storm, it crossed through the middle of the country, dumping as much as 10 inches of rain in some areas. It could have been so much worse, and we are thankful it wasn’t.

If all the tests come back the way we pray they will, we’re planning a trip for the second week of October to take school supplies and whatever we can. Most of the paper and heavier things are bought there but we take pencils, scissors and things such as those; of course, most of those are donated to us.

As always thank you for cards and prayers for Terry and for helping us to help our friends in Haiti.

Steve and Terry
